Crafty, eh?

Ok, craft notes (sewing, cooking, etc.) will probably show up on Tuesdays in future, but for today, I wish to point out: it is possible to make your own shoes.

I love the 'Net, and I specifically love-love-LOVE search engines, namely the Google. Let's face it - any object/service that becomes a noun (e.g., FedEx, Xerox, other terms) testifies on its own behalf what a fine thing it is. Yes, I know there are political issues with the company and some of its practices (or maybe I'm thinking Yahoo! here), but the service - love it.

Anyhow - while in the throes of Project Runway fever some time back, I was thinking about how to customize shoes, sort of along the lines of getting those dyable wedding shoes and doing some fabric painting, beading, etc. I decided to see what was out there on the WWW about making your own, custom shoes. And I found this link.  The lady's book is going on my Xmas wishlist, even if I don't get to using it for a while. I think I read that she has instructions included for sandals as well, so it's not just pumps. Yes, indeedy - I feel the Dennis Hopper financial ad mojo for my second career stealing over me like a warm blanket. Fashionista and designer - yep.

And, on the subject of crafts, let me say: PR season 3: Jeffrey????? *ptui*. Top Chef Season 2: I just saw the Thanksgiving ep with Anthony Bourdain - he was a hoot. Some of his books are going on the list too. And those chefs? Sheesh. Maybe it's just too many episodes of Iron Chef America, but hey, I could write up a traditional-flavors-with-a-twist menu without breaking a sweat. For example, instead of traditional green bean casserole (which I made over the holiday), how about a green bean mousse served in crustades of fried onions or possibly in cheese/cornbread molds? Instead of mushy yams (which we serve mixed with a little Jack Daniels, coconut, raisins and pecans, with the marshmallow topping browned on a bit), how about yam tostones-style, or sliced thin and fried as chips, with a bourbon coconut sauce? It's not brain surgery. But, I definitely agreed with Carlos getting the bounce - four hours and he roasted seeds and made a salad - gimme a break.

Ok, enough. See ya'll tomorrow. Cheers!

I am really glad to come across your post today.

Well Done!!

I have to comment on your last post about the subject as it was so informative. You really know what you are talking about and can explain things really well. I have only read posts by one other guy who writes as well as you do.
